(I just realized that the page numbers may be slightly different in the actual downloaded files . . . ah, well!)

Preview page from In Life and Death, my current horror comic/novel project [link]

In this page, one of the main characters is pregnant. It serves as a narrative bridging some other story elements together.

Since we've finally posted chapters 1 and 2 for download, I figured I'd post a couple of pages here to show some who may not have seen it what the interior art actually looks like.

Half of this story is written in prose (novel) form, while some pages have illustrations and others are full-out comic pages. (Moyoco Anno did this for her rendition of Kevin Smith's Chasing Amy, by the way).

I've spent hours upon hours researching stuff for this piece since it mostly takes place in the late 1800's . . . . clothing, furniture, appliances . . . everything has to look as close to the time period as humanly possible. It's a pain sometimes (I mean, I've had to look up the history of the toilet to make sure things like plumbing are correct!) . . . . but it's satisfying as all hell to get it all finished and go, 'wow, that looks really nice.'

Case in point--the old-fashioned washing machine in the top left, and the sewing machine. Those sewing machines were built onto tables . . . you had to buy the whole table! I know nothing about sewing machines; all I know is that now you can just buy the machine itself (seems like the tables had pedals or other components for the sewing machine built-in . . . don't correct me if I'm wrong, just go with it XD; . . .)

Since it's not a weekly web comic I can take the time needed to make decent-looking backgrounds, ink the hair all shiny-like, and add as many layers of shadows as I want. Of course, since I do this, it takes awhile to put out the story, but like I've said before, I hope the wait is worth it.

And even if some of you don't go for it, at least you can see what I've been up to! Bad karma (the proposed next web comic) needs a chunk of it rewritten, so it may be awhile . . . .
(So for awhile, you may just be getting ILAD and MCR fan art interspersed with art trades and those crazy-ass photo-manips. BWAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA . . .!)

"Sure, insults is not the best way to promote how you feel, but when you're automatically labeled as a prude because you like nude and not multi-penis, grasping vagina, herm foxes screwing multi-breasted cat women, well, you start to get irritated."
Gee I wonder what's wrong with her?

:P
Yeah, but you didn't use recreational drugs to dull the pain, now did you?

We have a sewing machine built into the table... : ) I used to use it a lot to make Halloween costumes.
It's really admirable that you would put in all that time to research your project. ^_^
